Let’s Chat!

Hi everyone!
Today’s post is going to be a bit of a different one. I just wanted to write a bit of a chatty one today, and maybe get the chance to know you guys a bit better as well.
First off, how was your Mother’s Day weekend?
Did you have a nice weekend with your kids? Or did you travel to go see your mom? Or if you still live at home, maybe you and your mom had an extra special day/weekend?
Mother’s Day weekend looks a bit different to me than perhaps most. Every year it is kind of like my designated ‘kid-free weekend’.
My mom takes Maxwell for a night, this year two, and Jeremy and I get to have some much needed couple time as well as alone time to do whatever we want to. It’s the perfect way for us to recharge our parenting batteries lol.
Friday night was date night! After sending Max off on his long journey to Nanny’s house, I spent a considerable amount of time getting ready. It felt so nice to just take my sweet old time and pamper myself a bit for a night out with my hubby.
We had a fabulous dinner at Jack Astor’s Bar and Grill, which is my favourite restaurant. They have the funniest advertising, art, TV programs etc throughout the place, that I enjoy reading/watching it all while we wait for our meal. I got my favourite chicken burger and fries, with water and white sangria to drink.
Next we went to the theatre to see The Avengers Age of Ultron. I’ve heard mixed reviews on this movie, but I absolutely loved it and would definitely go see it again. It was both action-packed and hilarious! But I won’t go to into it because I don’t want to spoil it for any of you.
Overall, we had a great night! These low-key dates are my favourite, a dinner and movie sounds perfect to me, every time.
Saturday started off relaxing, we even got to sleep in!. While Jeremy fixed my car for me (reasons to keep the mechanic around 😉 ), I spent my time relaxing, writing my previous blog post, catching up on my favourite blogs and YouTubers, doing yoga etc. But then I had to go to work, unfortunately, while Jeremy spent the evening with his friends.
Sunday, I got to sleep in again – a rarity for us moms! I made Jeremy and I a big breakfast, did what seemed like a million loads of laundry, and other cleaning. Max and my mom came back around supper time and we had a lovely bbq in the 20 degree weather! Steaks, caesar salad, and garlic parmesan potato wedges – yum.
Has anything exciting happened recently?
Last week, I started a new Monday-Friday job for the summer, which I am loving so far. There is a steep learning curve, so I’m finding it a bit overwhelming, but that’s just part of the challenge/excitement of starting a new job. This new position fits well within the degree I’m taking at university, so I hopefully I continue to enjoy it and learn lots. Maybe it’ll be a good career opportunity in about a year’s time when I’ll hopefully be graduating.
Any products I should check out?
Let me know what new products you would like to see reviews on, and products you just think I should try because maybe you’ve been loving them recently.
I’ve been saving up my tips from my other job, and didn’t know what to spend it on, but I think some new makeup is in order lol. Isn’t it always?
What have you been reading?
I just finished The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks today (post). It was so good! The end was a bit predictable, but not in a bad way, just that you knew what was coming. This book had me in tears many times, it was heart warming, and at time gut wrenching. Well done Mr. Sparks. If you haven’t read it yet, I’d recommend it. What should I read next?
Anyway I think I’ve rambled on enough seeing as how Jeremy has dozed off waiting for me to finish so we can watch our show before bed.
Let me know if you like these sorts of posts every once in a blue moon.
Let’s chat in the comments! Ask me some questions, or answer some of mine above, I’d love to hear from you!
Night!
♥
