Review | Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment

The Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment was featured in my most recent skincare overhaul post . I mentioned in that post that I wanted to do a full review for you guys and finally, here it is!

Claims

“This overnight resurfacer smooths texture & fine lines, evens skintone and minimizes appearance of pores with a 12 source AHA complex including glycolic, lactic & citrus acids. Suspended in soothing purified algae & vitamin E, this concentrated blend delivers rapid results without irritation. Wake up to radically smoother, young looking skin.”

Beneficial Ingredients

Glycolic, lactic, and citrus acids are alpha hydroxy acids. These acids act a a chemical exfoliant (as opposed to a physical one), dissolving the upper layer of skin to trigger repair. Glycolic acids are the smallest acid in terms of their molecular structure, this means they are the most effect in skin care because they can easily penetrate the skin. Since the acidic ingredients are combined with an algae and vitamin E gel base, this treatment is not too harsh, even for those of us with sensitive skin. Algae and vitamin E are very soothing on your skin, counteracting the potential irritation they may be caused with the acids.

Product Overview

The glass bottle is not ideal to travel with, but I love that it has a pump. The pump dispenses the perfect amount of product to apply to face and neck, and keeps the product sanitary.

There is no real scent to this product, maybe a hint, and I mean the smallest hint, of a medicinal smell. I’m not overly sensitive to scents in skincare, but if you are, I don’t think this will bother you.

When I first started using this, I was using it every night, as mentioned in my skincare overhaul post, and I think it’s a bit too potent for me to use so often. I was breaking out quite frequently because my skin is very sensitive. I now use this every third night, and it hasn’t irritated my skin since reducing the frequency of usage. I’ve read that strongly acid product often do that, but that you can gradually increase usage to daily if desired. Personally, I think every third day is working great for me, but I might try every second night.

Since incorporating this product into my night time skincare routine, I’ve seen a great improvement in my skin’s overall texture. I’ve struggled with acne for over a decade, leaving my skin pockmarked, but also with raised bumps. My skin is so much more smooth now, and even when it was breaking my out from using it too much, once the breakouts healed, my skin looked more radiant and smooth. I also think my pores do look less visible than before, though still apparent.

When using this product, I skip my acid toner for the night. This may not be necessary for everyone, but the combination of acids, was too much for my sensitive skin. It would sting, and my skin would be bright red after wards.

I would definitely recommend this product if you are dealing with texture issues as I was/am (my skin is not 100% smooth now by any means, but I see an improvement. If you have sensitive skin, incorporate it into your skincare routine slowly to reduce the possibility of a reaction, like I had.

I hope this review was helpful. Have you tried this treatment?

Emily ♥
