Reclaiming My Body | My Postpartum Fitness Journey

After putting together my YouTube video schedule for November, writing down ‘Wyatt’s 18 Month Update”, I realized my body has been sustaining another human in one way or another for 27 freaking months! That is wild!

I have started the process of weaning Wyatt. I’ve been breastfeeding for almost 18 months now and am just feeling ‘done’. I had no goal going into my breastfeeding journey, having not breastfed Maxwell, and am super proud to have made it this far. I can go into more details about these topics another day. But it’s time. I want my body back for myself.

Since the summer especially, I have been working pretty hard on my fitness, trying to get my body back. I think I have to just admit to myself, it’s never going to be like it used to be, so my focus is less on the scale, and more on feeling healthy and strong; feeling in control of my own body again.

For my birthday last January, my mom got me a subscription to BeachBody On Demand, and no, I’m not selling it so hold your horses. I have been enjoying it on and off. I’ve dabbled in multiple programs including 21 Day Fix, PiYo, and 3 Week Yoga Retreat. I saw the most results doing their yoga programs but am looking to switch it up. I plan on starting the Clean Week series this week to see how it goes.

Honestly, you don’t need BeachBody. You can find the variety for free on YouTube. Some of my faves are Blogilates (I did her Shredding for the Wedding Program in September and looked pretty great if I do say so myself), Tone It Up, and Yoga with Adriene. However, I do like that BeachBody is put into a program format, meaning you know exactly which workout to do and it ramps up the intensity gradually. You can also search their programs by your current fitness level so you don’t get discouraged.

I’m aware that this is just a general kind of update without much direction, but it’s a way for me to introduce a few topics at once and get your take on it. Do you want to see more about my fitness journey? My postpartum journey? Weaning? I’d love to hear your feedback!
