  • A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab

A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab is the second book in the Shades of Magic series. I have done a post on the first in the series, A Darker Shade of Magic, and recommend reading that post first so you are not spoiled in anyway for the series if you haven’t read the first book yet. Four months have passed since the events in the first book; since Rhy was injured, the Dane twins defeated, and Holland sent to die in Black London with the obsidian stone. Kell is getting bored, having given up his smuggling habit following their catastrophic consequences. Red London is preparing to host the…

  • Up To I Do by Samantha March

Up To I Do by Samantha March is the light hearted chick lit, chock full of wedding planning, that I needed to ease my stress while planning my own wedding. Emerson Sinclair is a wealthy hotel heiress, who thinks of herself as a sort of celebrity, despite living in a small New Hampshire town. A besides, she’s about to marry a Worthington don’t you know? She expects her wedding to air on television, to be made a priority in every one’s lives for the entire year leading up to the wedding. No expense is too great for the wedding of the century. Emerson begins to lose herself in the stress…

  • Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff is an action-packed young adult, science fiction novel, bordering on horror-ish, depending on how much of a scaredy cat you are (I’m a BIG scaredy cat). The year is 2575. We’re following Kady and Ezra, a couple of teenagers who recently broke up. And by recently, I mean hours before their small planet is attacked, and they’re forced to run for their lives. Lucky for them, a fleet of spaceships were close enough to  answer their distress signals and save many of the citizens. The enemy warship stay hot on their heels as they race across space, looking for safety. But wait, there’s…

  • The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee is a young adult historical fiction novel. Henry “Monty” Montague is a selfish, troubled teen struggling with the expectations of being a Lord’s son, as well as with his sexuality. Monty is in love with his best friend Percy, who is a POC. Percy, Monty, and Felicity, Monty’s younger sister, go on a Grand Tour across Europe to have their final hurrah before settling down into their duties at home. Monty plans to use this year abroad to find out if there really is anything romantic between him and Percy. However, his forever reckless behavior puts all three of them…

  • Review | Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation

The Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation was a product I was super excited to get my hands on the second in landed in Canada. I’ve been testing it for quite some time now and want to share my thoughts with you guys. Claims “Innovation: Our 1st gel-whipped foundation. Fresh, new and flawless… Dream Velvet whips a fresh gel into a velvet-soft texture. Complexion is perfected and smooth with a soft-matte finish, just like velvet. Skin feels fresh with lasting hydration.” Product Overview The packaging is basic but it works. I prefer my foundations to either have a pump, or be in a tube like this one is. I feel…

  • Top 5 Posts of 2016

Just like last year, I was curious to see what my most viewed posts were over the past year. My blogging game was seriously lacking in 2016, but it was for the best as I made so much progress in other aspects of my life. Here is a round up of the posts y’all liked most this year: 1. Top 5 | Spring Polishes, May 2. KathleenLights Made Me Buy It, February 3. Review | Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment, May 4. • MAC Whirl

Lipstick must be one of my biggest makeup weaknesses. I own more than I have space for. I’ve rediscovered MAC Whirl, which I hauled HERE and HERE. I’ve owned the lip liner for over a year, and the lipstick is a more recent purchase. Although this may be considered a bit more of a Fall/Winter shade, I’ve been loving it recently! The dirty rose shade is a step outside my usual brown-y toned nudes that I wear almost daily. The matte formula is not uncomfortable or drying like some other lipsticks I’ve tried. Because, in my opinion, this still falls within the nude colour family, this shade goes with every…

  • Review | Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

I bought the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer a few months ago, which I hauled HERE, after seemingly every YouTuber/ Blogger and their mamas were using it. I had to see what the fuss was about. Concealer and foundation are the products I am probably the most fickle with; I’m always hunting for something better. Claims “Hide even your most scandalous flaws. Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer gives you buildable, even coverage with a luminous, demi-matte finish. Ultra lightweight, this high-tech formula melds like a second skin to give you full coverage in an instant. For complete coverage, just keep building; no matter how much you…

  • Makeup Removing Dream Team

I’ve tried countless makeup removers in the past. None removed everything they were supposed to. That is, until I started using these two products together. They work so well as a team, to remove every last bit of makeup, including mascara! I first apply The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter to my dry face. Working it in until is all melted into my skin. I then wet my hands and work it into a lather. I bring this right up into my lashes to begin breaking down the mascara. This does not remove all the mascara on its own, but it does most of the work. For the second…

  • Review | L’Oréal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation

The L’Oréal True Match Lumi Cushion Buildable Luminous Foundation has been floating around the beauty community for months! I bought it as soon as I saw it in Canadian drugstores, and have been loving it ever since. However, there are some drawbacks to keep in mind if you’re looking into purchasing it. Claims “It’s Your Go-To Foundation, To Go. An innovative microaerated cushion drenched in liquid foundation. Tap a little for a fresh natural glow or tap on more to build a new level of luminous coverage.” Product Overview Upon first glance you may feel that the packaging is too bulky, however the double closure is the perfect solution that…
