  • Blurred, Not Bold

This beauty trend has been trying to gain traction for almost a year but I think I’m finally ready to hop on this train. It is the blurred, blotted, soft matte, stain effect lip. Could I have possibly used any more adjectives? The first of which I saw was from my fave – ColourPop with their Ultra Blotted Lip US$6 followed by the Blur Lux Lipstick US$7. Although I am partial to ColourPop because of their affordable prices and amazing shade ranges, many other brands have released products which will give you a similar effect on the lips at a variety of price points: NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip…

  • Top 5 | Blushes

Another new series happening on the blog, my ‘Top 5’ series. Today we’re talking blushes! Blush is one of those products I just seem to accumulate, even though if asked, I would not say it is one of my favourite beauty products, yet I have a ton of it. These five blushes are the ones I’ve been reaching for consistently over all others in my collection. Revlon in Naughty Nude – This blush is my number 1! It goes with every single look imaginable. It reminds me a lot of Nars Douceur, which I don’t own. In the pan, it looks like nothing special, even swatched (below), as it is…

  • Beauty Haul | Drugstore, ColourPop & Sephora

So, if you’d like to see similar content that you’ve been reading here, but in video format, check out my channel emilynmax, and please do subscribe and give lots of feedback! Editing is much harder than I had ever anticipated, I’m still trying to master just cutting out clips and stitching them back together. Anyway, that was a bit of an update for you. I’ve linked below my most recent video, which is a big…

  • 2015 Makeup Favourites

Today I am sharing with you my favourite makeup products from 2015. Many of these were new discoveries, but some are just tried and true favourites that I got a lot of use from. Fun fact: I actually filmed this to upload to YouTube with my new camera that my hubby got me for that purpose. With his encouragement I sat down and filmed, with more products than I’m sharing with you today as I had one for each category (ie. liquid lipstick, bronzer, etc.). Upon exporting to my computer to edit, the footage would play unedited, but once loaded into an editing software (I tried three), the audio was…

  • Top 5 Autumn/Winter Lipsticks | 2015

Today I wanted to talk to you about my top five lipsticks for autumn/winter this year. I had a bit of a hard time coming up with these five, because many were too similar, or were not available anymore, and I wanted to share ones you could still pick up if you wanted. I’ve chosen 3 standard lipsticks, and 2 liquid lipsticks. The four starting on the left are matte, and the last one on the right is and cream formula. The matte lip trend has definitely continued into fall, and I much prefer the matte formula on darker tones because they are more long-lasting, and I’m not worried…
