  • BEAUTY REVIEW Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara

Saturday was a sad day. I finished off yet another tube of the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara. Now, this mascara costs a pretty penny at C$33, and I would never pay that much for a mascara in my life. I have received both tubes I’ve used for “free”,  through a subscription box and Sephora’s Lash Stash To-Go.  This mascara is flipping amazing! It gives me intense black colour, and a ton of volume. I find it has a similar wand to the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, but this formula is less dry and doesn’t flake on me. One con, if your eyes water, this will smear; though…

  • Tacky or Too Faced?

Too Faced has a new collection launching February 12th in collaboration with The Pretty Mess. The collection includes a 12 pan eyeshadow palette, a Lip Injection, 2 lip kits, a body shimmer, and a highlight. Not gonna lie, I was flabbergasted when I saw this collection for a couple of reasons: Firstly, I had no clue who The Pretty Mess was. Erika Jayne is on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and clearly has a loyal fan base, with 1.6 million followers in Instagram. Secondly, after the response on the Glow Job Glitter Mask, retailing for $52CAD, I’m surprised they went this route again, with the “shocking”, risque product names.…

  • Blurred, Not Bold

This beauty trend has been trying to gain traction for almost a year but I think I’m finally ready to hop on this train. It is the blurred, blotted, soft matte, stain effect lip. Could I have possibly used any more adjectives? The first of which I saw was from my fave – ColourPop with their Ultra Blotted Lip US$6 followed by the Blur Lux Lipstick US$7. Although I am partial to ColourPop because of their affordable prices and amazing shade ranges, many other brands have released products which will give you a similar effect on the lips at a variety of price points: NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip…

  • Thank You Berry Much

So  many palettes being released have a stunning berry pink twist. Most recently, is the Dominique Cosmetics Berries & Cream palette. I for one, am very glad to be moving away from the boring, warm palettes, and trying something new. These rich berry tones are so complementary and perfect for the cooler months. • Morphe’s in Sephora Canada!

The ever popular, affordable makeup brand, Morphe, has now reached Sephora Canada, albeit online only for most of us, and with a smaller product range than available on their site. They will be launching in 15 stores Canada-wide. Last year, Morphe entered Ulta stores across the border, in the U.S., which fans of the brand were very excited about as it seemed to be a good fit. I’ve seen a lot of negative feedback on Twitter about this. People feel that Morphe and Sephora are not a good match, and that they’ll be gone again after the holidays. Similar to what we saw happening with ColourPop last year. My opinion?…

  • Winter Beauty Wishlist | 2016

These are the top five beauty items I’d like to add to my collection this season. The last few months, I’ve been really expanding my collection because of all the new launches. Just when I thought it was time to slow down, there were three launches I got super excited about, a skincare item with rave reviews I want to try for myself, and a recommended blush. My poor, poor wallet. LA Girl Pro Coverage Foundation – There’s nothing I love more than discovering new affordable foundations. This has the stamp of approval from both Tati Westbrook and Kathleen Lights, both whose opinions I trust. My skin has been extremely…

  • Review | Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

I bought the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer a few months ago, which I hauled HERE, after seemingly every YouTuber/ Blogger and their mamas were using it. I had to see what the fuss was about. Concealer and foundation are the products I am probably the most fickle with; I’m always hunting for something better. Claims “Hide even your most scandalous flaws. Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer gives you buildable, even coverage with a luminous, demi-matte finish. Ultra lightweight, this high-tech formula melds like a second skin to give you full coverage in an instant. For complete coverage, just keep building; no matter how much you…

  • Makeup Removing Dream Team

I’ve tried countless makeup removers in the past. None removed everything they were supposed to. That is, until I started using these two products together. They work so well as a team, to remove every last bit of makeup, including mascara! I first apply The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter to my dry face. Working it in until is all melted into my skin. I then wet my hands and work it into a lather. I bring this right up into my lashes to begin breaking down the mascara. This does not remove all the mascara on its own, but it does most of the work. For the second…

  • Casey Holmes Made Me Buy It

My first post in this series featured KathleenLights and you guys seemed to like it, so I’m coming at you with another post. The second YouTuber I wanted to feature in my “YouTube Made Me Buy It” series is Casey Holmes, who’s channel used to be called ‘itsbl0ndie’. Casey has 1.1 million subscribers on YouTube, and posts a variety of beauty and lifestyle videos on her channel. She’s always changing things up, recently adding ‘Test It Out Thursday’ and monthly ‘Hits & Misses’ as opposed to the standard ‘Favorites’. I really love that she switches things up, not just posting the same old videos all the time. She has an…
