ColourPop Haul | April 2016
When ColourPop recently hit 2 million ‘ColourPopettes’ they were giving away a limited edition lippie stix with every order while supplies lasted. I thought it was the perfect time to try some of their newer products I’ve never used before as a free lipstick offset the cost of shipping in my mind. I picked up one shade of each product I wanted to try most, to test out the formula before I bought a ton of shades, which we all know is going to happen.
Lippie Stix in Poppin – I have been a fan of ColourPop’s lipstick formula for quite some time now. This hot pink ‘matte x’ shade was limited edition in celebration of 2 million ‘ColourPopettes’ as mentioned above. It’s not a shade I would reach for often but, I don’t have a super matte lipstick in such a bright shade. Bright lipsticks tend to scare me, especially in cream formulas because I feel like it’s going to smear outside of my lip line and be a huge mess. To push myself out of my comfort zone a bit more, I got this super bright shade, in the matte formula to coax myself into wearing more bright lipsticks this spring in summer. Think it will work?
Ultra Satin Lip in Magic Wand – These are a relatively new release from ColourPop, and I’ve been so intrigued by the concept – a liquid lipstick that isn’t matte? What is this sorcery? I find some liquid lipsticks to be too drying, and I’m hoping that this product is the perfect hybrid to solve that issue. I’ve watched/read a ton of reviews and decided on the shade Magic Wand because it is a gorgeous peachy-pink nude and it’s a colour I wear almost daily.
Ultra Matte Lip in Lumière 2 – If you read my blog on a semi-regular basis, you know KathleenLights is my favourite YouTuber. I have supported every collab she’s ever done, with the exception of Ofra Havana Nights, but that’s a whole ‘nother story (not happy about it). I know Lumière 2 isn’t super new, but when ordering from ColourPop I want to buy a few things because the shipping isn’t cheap from California to Nova Scotia. I love and wear the original Lumière products all the time. This is a bit of a darker shade from the original, and is of course in an ultra matte formula, as opposed to the standard matte lipstick formula. Sorry about the patchy swatch, that was user error, the product is not actually patchy on the lips.
Super Shock Cheek in Smokin’ Whistles – I’ve wanted to try a highlight since the were released over a year ago but there is an overwhelming amount of shades and I didn’t know which would suit my skintone the best. A few months ago Kathleen mentioned that when she is not faked tanned Smokin’ Whistles is the most flattering on her. As Kathleen and I are the same foundation shade when she’s not tanned, and have the same warm-to-neutral undertones I finally decided to pick this one up. The crème powder formula is super interesting, and it’s highly light reflecting – definitely not a subtle highlight. The pink champagne shade is very flattering on my skintone. I’m so glad I waited to pick a shade because this wasn’t the one I was leaning towards originally.
What are you’re favourite products from ColourPop? What should I try next? I think I might get one of their new brow products next. Already planning another purchase – uh oh!
