Casey Holmes Made Me Buy It
My first post in this series featured KathleenLights and you guys seemed to like it, so I’m coming at you with another post. The second YouTuber I wanted to feature in my “YouTube Made Me Buy It” series is Casey Holmes, who’s channel used to be called ‘itsbl0ndie’.
Casey has 1.1 million subscribers on YouTube, and posts a variety of beauty and lifestyle videos on her channel. She’s always changing things up, recently adding ‘Test It Out Thursday’ and monthly ‘Hits & Misses’ as opposed to the standard ‘Favorites’. I really love that she switches things up, not just posting the same old videos all the time. She has an amazing personality, does gorgeous makeup tutorials, and her and I both have super oily skin, with lots to cover. For this reason, when I’m in the market for a new foundation or primer, I always purchase her recommendations.
These are the four products Casey Holmes ‘made’ me buy:
Smashbox Primer Water – This primer makes my skin feel super hydrated, without feeling greasy, allowing foundation to glide over my skin much more easily. It is silicone-, alcohol-, and oil-free and is infused with electrolytes. I also love using this after my makeup is complete as a final step, like a setting spray as it settles any powder-y-ness, and makes my skin look healthy.
Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer – I’m always on the hunt for a great pore minimizing primer, that doesn’t clog up my pores. I know – a tough order to fill. I use this primer in conjunction with the Primer Water to fill in my pores, inhibiting my foundation from sinking into all my larger pores, which isn’t cute. After removing my makeup for the day, I don’t feel like my pores are all clogged up like I’ve experienced while using other pore filling primer.
PS – Sephora currently has a limited edition set with these two primers together! HERE
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – I’ve done a full review on this foundation – HERE – so if you’d like more details on it, you can go ahead and read that. I loved this foundation for awhile, but haven’t used it in months because it’s too dark for me at the moment. I’m tempted to go purchase a lighter shade hmm.. But if you follow me on Twitter, you’d know that after all the hauls I’ve done recently – HERE, HERE, and HERE – I’ve declared May a no-buy month for me, unless of course I run out of moisturizer or something else important.
L’Oréal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation – This is the best foundation at the drugstore for us gals with oily skin, in my opinion. I can only wear this in the summer months, once I have a tan because the shade range sucks, there’s only nine shades! The demi-matte finish keeps you from looking flat, yet keeps your oil at bay longer than a non-matte foundation would, ya know?! I love the finish, the coverage, the longevity. If you haven’t tried this, and you have oily skin, you should!
As YouTube is Casey’s job, she’s always trying and loving new products so I can’t possibly keep up with her foundation and primer recommendations but within the last year she’s loved these four products and had convinced me to purchase them.
Which YouTuber’s are your favourite, and what have they ‘made’ you buy? Who would you like to see featured next?
