January Favourites | 2017
I can’t believe this is the first favourites post of the year (if you don’t count my Best of Beauty video). I try and either do a blog post, or a YouTube video containing my favourites each month.
If you’re not subscribed to my YouTube channels, be sure to head over there and do that – I’ve been posting a ton lately *pats self on back*. For more beauty content like you see here you can go to emilynmax, and if you’re interested in more mommy style videos/ vlogs you can go to emilynfamily which is a new channel I’ve started.
Enough PSA’s already, onto my January favourites!
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye – I received this little baby size in an Ipsy bag. After swatching it on my hand I was terrified to try it under my eyes. It felt super sticky and thick. This product definitely took some trial and error but if you apply the tiniest amount, it will spread far enough to conceal your entire under eye area. My favourite powder to set this is the Too Faced Light Cocoa from the Cocoa Contour Kit. It provides flawless coverage, doesn’t crease once set well and last throughout the whole day. I was super impressed! Another thing to note is the shades run on the light side. In the winter, I’d normally use a fair concealer under my eyes, but this is in light and provides the same brightening effect.
The rest of these products are more like rediscovered favourites. I’ve been trying to make more of an effort to shop my stash, rather than constantly only using what’s new and exciting.
L’Oréal Brow Stylist Plumper – This is now my favourite brow gel of all time. I’ve been loving the bushier brow trend and this product is was you need to achieve that on a budget. It contains the perfect amount of fibres, tint and hold to have a great brow day! For a more natural brow look I wear this on its own, but it looks great layered over a brow pencil as well.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – I recently purchased yet another tube of this mascara. It’s definitely another all time favourite product of mine. Every time I run out I try others, but each time I repurchase I fall back in love with it. People say it’s a dupe of Benefit’s Roller Lash but I think the Maybelline one is better in my opinion.
MAC Fix+ – My skin has been super dry from the combination of frigid winter air, and this pregnancy. The only think that allows me to have a semi-good foundation day is a shower in Fix + before my makeup as well as after wards. For the most part I’ve been skipping foundation all together because I just can’t get it to work for me right now over my dry patches. But Fix + saves the day when I want a full face.
L’Oréal Infallible Shadow in 002 Hourglass Beige – These shadows are more like pressed pigments. In my experience they apply best with your finger. This champagne beige shade gives an intense pop of shimmer to the lid while keeping things neutral and everyday wear friendly. It also looks great as an inner corner highlight.
What were you loving throughout the month of January?
