Kingdom of the Wicked series by Kerri Maniscalco

Two sisters.
One brutal murder.
A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…
And an intoxicating romance.

Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin…desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost—even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden.

Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked—princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…

★★★☆☆

The Kingdom of the Wicked series by Kerri Maniscalco has been recommended to me countless times as a fantasy romance reader. There are witches, demons, enemies-to lovers, forbidden magic and more. Basically a recipe for perfection in my eyes. I enjoyed my time reading this YA series, but after finishing I feel a bit “meh, it was fun”. I don’t think it will stick with me for long. The second in the series, Kingdom of the Cursed, was my favourite as there was a lot of development in the relationship between Wrath and Emilia. Some of the twists and turns this series takes had me rolling my eyes to be honest.

Wrath, one of the Princes of Hell, was my favourite character. The Princes of Hell in general were very intriguing to me. Kerri Maniscalco has a new adult novel, Throne of the Fallen, coming out this fall, set in the same world, that I’m really looking forward to trying.
