• 2015 Makeup Favourites

Today I am sharing with you my favourite makeup products from 2015. Many of these were new discoveries, but some are just tried and true favourites that I got a lot of use from. Fun fact: I actually filmed this to upload to YouTube with my new camera that my hubby got me for that purpose. With his encouragement I sat down and filmed, with more products than I’m sharing with you today as I had one for each category (ie. liquid lipstick, bronzer, etc.). Upon exporting to my computer to edit, the footage would play unedited, but once loaded into an editing software (I tried three), the audio was…

  • What I Got For Christmas | 2015

Today I would like to share with you a handful of the gifts I received for Christmas. I’ve chosen items that I thought were relevant to what we normally talk about here at emilynmax. I will do my best to keep descriptions brief, and am open to full review suggestions in the comments. This Christmas I received a ton of LUSH products, which I’m super excited to use. I’ve photographed a few above, but not all. Golden Wonder bath bomb – which is covered in gold glitter, and contains a turquoise surprise inside.Celestial Moisturizer – formulated for sensitive skin.Love and Light Hand Cream –  This smells incredible!Buffy Body Butter –…

I’m thinking of doing a posts on a 2015 recap/ 2016 resolutions, comment below if you’d like to read that. Anyway, these products have gotten my through the Christmas season and I’m super excited to share them with you! Head & Shoulders Itchy Scalp Shampoo – Due to the dry winter air, my scalp has been super irritated to the point of losing handfuls of hair each time I washed it. I always though Head…

  • Winter Style Wishlist

It’s that time again; the time I share with you the top five items I would like to add to my wardrobe this season. Let’s get into it: Columbia Shimmerlicious Jacket in Blue Macaw – I’ve been wearing the same handful of winter jacket for many years now. I usually wear items until they absolutely need to be replaced. However, I think it’s time to get a new one. This jacket is a beautiful colour, looks nice, and has a fur hood which I love. Living in Canada, I have to sacrifice a chic looking coat for something a bit more practical, unless I want to pay a ton of…

  • Review | Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

The Too Faced Born This Way Foundation has been hyped up in the beauty community over the past few months. I jumped on this bandwagon as soon as I could ‘justify’ *cough cough* a high end foundation purchase, and have been loving it since. Claims “This oil-free foundation masterfully diffuses the line between makeup and skin. Coverage so undetectable and skin so naturally radiant, they’ll think you were born this way.” 100% said this foundation blurred their imperfections98% said this foundation made their skin look absolutely perfect97% said this foundation provided natural coverage Beneficial Ingredients Coconut water to delicately replenish skin’s moisture levels.Alpine rose to brighten skin’s appearance and promote…

As the winter months are finally upon us, it is time to integrate more moisturizing products into our routines. Today I’m sharing with you my favourite winter skin essentials for your body, hands, lips, and skincare. Body The Body Shop Body Butters – Every winter I dig out all my Body Shop Body Butters. They smell amazing and are super moisturizing. As they are so thick, I only apply these before bed. When I wake up the next morning my skin is so lovely and soft, and it stays hydrated all day. L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil – This shower oil smells amazing!! It cleans  your body just as well as…

  • Review | Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo

The Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo was featured in my most recent drugstore haul, in which I made a big claim. I may like this slightly more than my beloved Batiste. Claims “Refreshes between washes. Absorbs oil between traditional washes so hair looks and feels refreshed. Weightless formula cleans to transform lifeless hair, so you can enjoy fresh, volumized hair, even when you skip your regular wash.” Product Overview The packaging is sleek and classy. Quite a lot bigger than the Batiste, but still not bulky. The scent is clean and fresh, much like other Dove products I have used in the past. It does linger all day in your hair.…

  • Ipsy November 2015 Unboxing

This months theme is Beauty Blast; The Stars Are Aligning. I personally am not a fan of the bag again this month. But, Maxwell was super excited when he saw it because it’s outer space. So I’m sure it will be used in some form. Luxie Eye Shadow Pan in 290 – This is not very pigmented, doesn’t swatch well, and is very hard in the pan. It is a matte aubergine color. I wish this wasn’t just the pan as well. Personally, my Z palettes are full, and am not going to buy another. Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara – I haven’t heard too much about this mascara. I’m not…

  • Sephora VIB Sale Haul | November 2015

I was beyond excited to finally be eligible for the VIB sale at Sephora, as this was my first year as a VIB. I set myself a limit of 5 items, so I wanted to ensure they were all products I have been wanting for ages, and that were highly rated in the beauty community. Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser – I have used up a couple cleansers and was in need of something new to try. This claims to remove all makeup and deep clean pores, which is definitely what I need. I like a cleanser that is gentle, yet still cleans my skin well. I will update in…
