  • Go Faux | False Lashes

I’ve been learning more and more about what it takes to produce a mink lash, and am not too impressed by this being passed as “cruelty-free’. While I understand the different between vegan and cruelty-free, I feel on this front they’re blurring the lines. Mink are not friendly, sociable animals. I can guarantee they are not happy sitting in their cages, and the manufacturers are not snuggling and combing them to retrieve the hairs. There are three brands in particular that I wanted to draw attention to today, while I am sure there are many more. These brands boast about their cruelty-free status all over social media, while producing mink…

  • Planning a Low-Key, At-Home Birthday Party

I still cannot wrap my head around Maxwell turning 8 years old this week! For his birthday party this year, we’re throwing him a low-key, at-home party with his closest friends and family in an effort to save money. Jeremy is scheduled for surgery Monday morning for his knee, which could mean anywhere from 1 to 8 weeks off of work. This being right after Christmas, and Max’s birthday was a bit of a shock. But, when they call with an opening – you take it! Growing up, also having a January birthday, I remember having a lot of parties at home. We did sledding parties, dance parties, sleepover parties,…

  • Why You Shouldn’t Make New Year’s Resolutions

Year after year, we find ourselves persuaded into making New Year’s Resolutions. That January 1st means a clean slate; new year, new you. Year after year, we forget about them by the end of January, if not sooner. We’ve been doing it wrong! In my opinion, resolutions are too general, and not easily measurable. In 2019, I am making GOALS! Smart goals are well thought out, easily measurable, and have a specific end result. By making goals instead of resolutions, you’ll be able to set a clear path to success, and be able to track your progress throughout the year. I’d now like to share a few of my goals…

  • Recharging Before the New Year

The week after Christmas and before you start working on all those New Year Resolutions, is the perfect time to relax, recharge, and reflect. I think this is the only week in the year when it’s not only perfectly acceptable, but encouraged to do nothing. Leading up to Christmas is a time of year filled with not only joy and family, but a lot of stress. Many feeling stressed financially, or through expectations, or maybe just the sheer busy-ness of the holiday season. Catch those elusive Zzz’sNot only are you not able to sleep as much as you’d like because, well, adulting. Whether you’re working full time or have kiddos…

  • Wyatt’s 18 Month Baby Update

We officially have a toddler on our hands! In light of having officially relaunched this blog a couple of months ago, I thought it was about time to formally introduce you to Wyatt over here. Wyatt turned a year and a half on November 9th, but I wanted to wait until after his doctor appointment before making this post/video. Wyatt is a talking machine now! Never do I get a quiet moment when he’s awake. Some of the most recent additions to his ever growing vocabulary include: flower, spicy, Cheesies, go away, and doodles (noodle). I am beyond pleased with his language development as this was an area of worry…

  • Recap | 6 Goals for 2016

For me, the end of the year is a time of reflection. To look back on what I’ve accomplished and what I could do better. Today’s post is a bit of a round-up on how I did on the goals I made at the beginning of the year. [I’ve linked the original post so give that a quick read first as I won’t be re-posting them here.] Fitness/Health – I was actually doing pretty well with going to the gym consistently until around September. I was following a bodybuilding style routine and really enjoyed it. My pregnancy symptoms have kept me away since which has really sucked. All I’m able…

  • 6 Goals for 2016

My hope for this year is that by writing out my goals, and posting it on the Internet for others to see, it will give me the necessary push to try my hardest to ‘complete’ them by year end. Think that will work? I’ve split my goals into six categories, ranging from personal, family, blog etc. and GO! Fitness/Health – I would like to workout at least three times a week. Last year I was fell off the fitness wagon a bit towards to end, but I feel so much better when I make it to the gym consistently. I would also like to drink more water, and eat less…

  • Maxwell Turned 5!

On Saturday, January 16th, 2016 Maxwell turned five years old! I’m proud of the little man he’s becoming. He’s smart, thoughtful, and still snuggles his mama, even just for a minute. I love you so much Max! Saturday, Max had a great time in the midst of a snow storm, glow-in-the-dark mini-putting with his closest friends, eating pizza and ice cream cake, and playing arcade games. Sunday, we had family and friends over to our place for a more low-key party. Maxwell had a great birthday weekend, but I’m also kind of glad it’s over. Hosting kid’s parties are exhausting, and I’m always sad that he’s growing up so fast;…

  • Let’s Chat!

(Source) Hi everyone! Today’s post is going to be a bit of a different one. I just wanted to write a bit of a chatty one today, and maybe get the chance to know you guys a bit better as well. First off, how was your Mother’s Day weekend? Did you have a nice weekend with your kids? Or did you travel to go see your mom? Or if you still live at home, maybe you and your mom had an extra special day/weekend? Mother’s Day weekend looks a bit different to me than perhaps most. Every year it is kind of like my designated ‘kid-free weekend’. My mom takes…
