  • February Favourites | 2016

Sorry my favourites are a bit late this month! But I hope the fact that I have a ton to share with you this month will make up for it 🙂 L’Oréal Hair Expertise Arginine Resist X3 – I’ve written an entire post about these three products, which you can read here. My hair hasn’t been in this great of a condition since before bleach two or three years ago. My hair is stronger, healthier, and falls out significantly less! LUSH Mask of Magnaminty – I’ve been suffering from terrible breakouts over the past month. Using this super cleansing mask all over once a week, plus overnight on my targeted…

  • KathleenLights Made Me Buy It

Hey guys! If you’d like to know where I’ve been,  you can check out my last post here. I’d like to start a new series on my blog, similar to the ‘YouTube Made Me Buy It’ videos that have been floating around on YouTube for quite sometime now, but with a twist, I’d like to focus on one YouTuber at a time. I watch so many amazing ‘beauty gurus’, ‘makeup artists’, ‘makeup junkies’, whatever you’d like to call them, (or what they like to call themselves), that convince me to buy a product for one reason or another. I follow them all for different reasons, whether it be personality alone,…

  • Family Favourite Chocolate No-Bake Cookies | Recipe

For something a bit different, today I’m sharing with you my family’s favourite chocolate cookie recipe. These are super quick and easy to whip up! My mom used to make these for my brother and I all the time growing up, and I now make these for my family. The recipe is adapted from a 1988 church cookbook called Let’s Break Bread Together, which contains recipes from across Canada. The cookbook has seen better days and is falling apart, but the recipes inside are amazing! Chocolate Macaroons 1/2 cup margarine or butter2 cups white sugar1/2 cup milk Melt butter in large saucepan. Add milk and sugar. Bring to a bubbly…

  • 2015 Makeup Favourites

Today I am sharing with you my favourite makeup products from 2015. Many of these were new discoveries, but some are just tried and true favourites that I got a lot of use from. Fun fact: I actually filmed this to upload to YouTube with my new camera that my hubby got me for that purpose. With his encouragement I sat down and filmed, with more products than I’m sharing with you today as I had one for each category (ie. liquid lipstick, bronzer, etc.). Upon exporting to my computer to edit, the footage would play unedited, but once loaded into an editing software (I tried three), the audio was…

  • December Favourites

Happy New Year everyone!! I feel like I’ve grown so much in 2015 as a person; making leaps and bounds in my personal and professional development. I’m excited to see what 2016 brings my way. I’m thinking of doing a posts on a 2015 recap/ 2016 resolutions, comment below if you’d like to read that. Anyway, these products have gotten my through the Christmas season and I’m super excited to share them with you! Head & Shoulders Itchy Scalp Shampoo – Due to the dry winter air, my scalp has been super irritated to the point of losing handfuls of hair each time I washed it. I always though Head…

  • Top 5 Autumn/Winter Lipsticks | 2015

Today I wanted to talk to you about my top five lipsticks for autumn/winter this year. I had a bit of a hard time coming up with these five, because many were too similar, or were not available anymore, and I wanted to share ones you could still pick up if you wanted. I’ve chosen 3 standard lipsticks, and 2 liquid lipsticks. The four starting on the left are matte, and the last one on the right is and cream formula. The matte lip trend has definitely continued into fall, and I much prefer the matte formula on darker tones because they are more long-lasting, and I’m not worried…

  • October Favourites

October was a very stressful month for me and I’m glad it’s over. However, this month ended on a good note with Halloween. I’m not super into Halloween but I always enjoy getting Maxwell ready in his costume, and going trick-or-treating with him. You can see his costume on my Instagram (@emilynmax, links in the sidebar). I didn’t dress up this year, but let me know in the comments what you went as if you dressed up. Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo – This dry shampoo has quickly become a favourite. I find myself reaching for this over my Batiste almost every time. It is more lightweight than Batiste; I cannot…

  • September Favourites

September was a month of adjustments. I went back to university full-time for my fourth year. I have been juggling work, school, blog, and motherhood, all while remaining mostly sane! September has been a great month overall, I’ve discovered a ton of great products, my skin is mostly under control, knock on wood, and I’ve been killing the dark lip trend. September is my favourite month of the year, and am sad to say goodbye for another year, but with any luck October will be great too! Side note: I still need to decide on Halloween costumes for myself and Maxwell. Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion – This acid toner…

  • August Favourites

Although I am sad to see summer go, I am so excited for fall. September is my favourite month of the year. Growing up, it was always exciting getting all your new school stuff, signifying a new ‘year’! This will (hopefully) be my last year in school, I am off to finish the 4th year of my degree, and can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Even next year, September will continue to be an exciting time as Maxwell will be headed off to Elementary school. Yikes! Let’s move onto the products I’ve been loving in August before I get all sentimental, shall we: Pur~lisse Pur~delicate Gentle…

  • Essie Tart Deco

As my final tribute to summer, I have brought out Essie Tart Deco. I wore this non stop last summer, but this is the first time I’ve worn it this year for some reason. I suppose it is because I’ve been more into the purples, mint, and light blue polishes.  This coral-y peach shade screams summer to me. It is also one of those colours that make you appear more tan than you really are, which I always appreciate. My apologies that the picture doesn’t do it justice, it looks more orange above than it actually is. What is your favourite nail polish in the summer? Emily ♥
