Beauty Haul | Drugstore, ColourPop & Sephora
Hey guys! Miss me? I haven’t posted in about a week and a half. Long story short, midterm exams happened, and I’ve officially launched a YouTube channel to work as a complement to this blog! So, if you’d like to see similar content that you’ve been reading here, but in video format, check out my channel emilynmax, and please do subscribe and give lots of feedback! Editing is much harder than I had ever anticipated, I’m still trying to master just cutting out clips and stitching them back together. Anyway, that was a bit of an update for you. I’ve linked below my most recent video, which is a big…

January Favourites | 2016
January was a whirlwind! Max and I both had birthdays, and I started back at classes. The year 2016 had a great start; leaps and bounds were made towards my goals this year. However, as I am typing this, I am home from school with no voice and an awful cough, and Max is home from preschool with the flu and a high fever. I am hoping we are both better soon (and I don’t get the flu to top off my cold) and that this is not an indication of how the rest of February is going to go. The products that have received the most love this…

Family Favourite Chocolate No-Bake Cookies | Recipe
For something a bit different, today I’m sharing with you my family’s favourite chocolate cookie recipe. These are super quick and easy to whip up! My mom used to make these for my brother and I all the time growing up, and I now make these for my family. The recipe is adapted from a 1988 church cookbook called Let’s Break Bread Together, which contains recipes from across Canada. The cookbook has seen better days and is falling apart, but the recipes inside are amazing! Chocolate Macaroons 1/2 cup margarine or butter2 cups white sugar1/2 cup milk Melt butter in large saucepan. Add milk and sugar. Bring to a bubbly…

Let’s Start a Pro Palette | Mac Haul
If you read my What I Got For Christmas post, you’d know I received a Mac gift card from my in-laws. I deliberated on which products I wanted to pick up for a long time, because Mac is so expensive for me. I had never owned any of the iconic Mac eyeshadows before, and thought this was the perfect opportunity to pick some up. I decided to start a pro palette, so I bought the large pro palette along with the 15 pan eyeshadow insert. I picked up four shades to start; charcoal brown, nylon, amber lights, and all that glitters. I chose these shades because I knew I would…

6 Goals for 2016
My hope for this year is that by writing out my goals, and posting it on the Internet for others to see, it will give me the necessary push to try my hardest to ‘complete’ them by year end. Think that will work? I’ve split my goals into six categories, ranging from personal, family, blog etc. and GO! Fitness/Health – I would like to workout at least three times a week. Last year I was fell off the fitness wagon a bit towards to end, but I feel so much better when I make it to the gym consistently. I would also like to drink more water, and eat less…

Maxwell Turned 5!
On Saturday, January 16th, 2016 Maxwell turned five years old! I’m proud of the little man he’s becoming. He’s smart, thoughtful, and still snuggles his mama, even just for a minute. I love you so much Max! Saturday, Max had a great time in the midst of a snow storm, glow-in-the-dark mini-putting with his closest friends, eating pizza and ice cream cake, and playing arcade games. Sunday, we had family and friends over to our place for a more low-key party. Maxwell had a great birthday weekend, but I’m also kind of glad it’s over. Hosting kid’s parties are exhausting, and I’m always sad that he’s growing up so fast;…

Ipsy January 2016 Unboxing
The first Ipsy of the year! This month’s theme is ‘All Eyes on You’. This is the first time in a while that I’ve actually liked the bag. It’s a great wipe-able material, and I love the colourful retro print on it. It will definitely be going into my purse. The Balm Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner in Jac – This is a pretty bronze colour, but I went to swatch it on my hand, didn’t even apply pressure yet and the tip broke off. Obviously it will still work, but I was excited about it, now not so much. Promise Organic Ultra Moisturizing Argan Creme Facial Lotion with Olive Oil…

2015 Makeup Favourites
Today I am sharing with you my favourite makeup products from 2015. Many of these were new discoveries, but some are just tried and true favourites that I got a lot of use from. Fun fact: I actually filmed this to upload to YouTube with my new camera that my hubby got me for that purpose. With his encouragement I sat down and filmed, with more products than I’m sharing with you today as I had one for each category (ie. liquid lipstick, bronzer, etc.). Upon exporting to my computer to edit, the footage would play unedited, but once loaded into an editing software (I tried three), the audio was…
